Terms of Service | Knives on Strings

These Terms of Service govern your use of software products and the website operated by Knives on Strings. By downloading, installing, or using any Knives on Strings product, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software.

1. License Grant

Upon purchase — or download, for products offered at no charge — Knives on Strings grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, personal licence to install and use the software, subject to the following conditions:

You may install the software on any computers you personally own or control.
Use is permitted for personal and professional music production purposes.
Your licence is for you alone. You may not share, resell, sublicense, or transfer it to another person.
You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the software.
You may not modify the software or create derivative works from it.

Free products are subject to the same licence terms as paid products, except where the payment provisions would be inapplicable by nature.

2. Ownership

The software, including all code, assets, algorithms, and documentation, remains the exclusive intellectual property of Knives on Strings. Purchasing a licence grants you the right to use the software — it does not transfer ownership of the software or any part of it.

You retain full ownership of all music, audio, and other creative works you produce using our software.

3. Updates and New Versions

We may release updates, patches, or new versions of our software from time to time. Updates to the version you purchased are provided at no additional charge where reasonably practicable. Major new versions may be offered as separate purchases.

4. Warranty Disclaimer

The software is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Knives on Strings makes no representations or warranties regarding the software's fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that the software will be error-free or compatible with every system, DAW, or operating system configuration.

Audio emulation results may vary from the original hardware. This is expected behaviour, not a defect.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Knives on Strings shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the software. This includes but is not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of profits.

Our total cumulative liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the software giving rise to the claim. For free products, our total liability is zero.

6. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

Use the software for any unlawful purpose.
Attempt to circumvent, disable, or defeat any copy protection or licence enforcement mechanisms.
Distribute, upload, or share installers or licence files with others.
Misrepresent the origin of the software or claim it as your own work.

7. Refunds

All sales are final. Because our products are delivered as digital downloads, we do not offer refunds after a purchase is completed. If you experience a technical issue that prevents the software from functioning, contact us at knivesonstrings@gmail.com and we will work to resolve it.

8. Termination

Your licence terminates automatically if you violate any of these terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the software and delete all copies in your possession.

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the software following a material change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We will note the effective date of the current version at the top of this page.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Knives on Strings is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.

The short version: Buy or download it, use it on your own machines, make music. Don't share, crack, or reverse engineer it. We own the software; you own everything you create with it. No refunds on digital goods, but we'll fix genuine technical problems.
