Jeffie’s Box

Jeffie’s Box — WARRANTY VOID SINCE 1979 PLANNING

Inject the authentic, unbridled chaos of an upstate New York basement right into your DAW. Meticulously component-modeled from a one-of-a-kind, hand-soldered 1979 hobbyist build, Jeffie's Box doesn't just emulate the legendary SN76477 chip — it captures the soul of a weekend soldering project gone gloriously right.

The hardware this is modeled on is a weekend project that my dad (Jeffy) build for me in the late 70s. As built it's a drone with toggles which change functions of the SN76477. There's probably other great SN76477 VSTs (maybe?), but this one of limitted on purpose, which why it's free.

Stop using sterile, modern oscillators and start aggressively zapping, blooping, and sweeping your way to lo-fi nirvana.

Key Features

  • True-Bodge™ Component Modeling: We didn't just model the Texas Instruments chip; we mathematically replicated the unpredictable parasitic capacitance of the original builder's green bodge wire and point-to-point trace jumpers for unparalleled "analog warmth."
  • Dying 9-Volt Power Sag: Dial in the exact voltage of a generic, off-brand battery slowly expiring over a four-year period to achieve that highly sought-after, pitch-drifting, dying-laser sound.
  • Hyper-Realistic 4K GUI: Marvel at the photorealistic aluminum enclosure, complete with mathematically randomized dust particles and a painstakingly rendered strip of Dymo relief tape that strictly adheres to the "SYNTHESISER" misspelling.
  • Space Invaders Heritage: Instantly transport your mix back to a 1980s arcade. (Warning: continuous use of the SLF siren may alienate your bandmates).
